Event Description
The Philosophy Check-up
Presented by
Philip Butler

This webinar is a collaborative journey towards developing and reviewing your centre's philosophy. It's about ensuring that the philosophy represents not just your team’s values and beliefs but also those of the community – a document everyone connects to. A philosophy is more than a document on display in the foyer. It is the essence of who you are. A philosophy is a clearly defined statement, easily communicable, and provides teams and families with clarity of vision, beliefs, and expectations of quality. It's a living document that is everyone’s responsibility, both to develop and implement. With some simple planning and support, the creation of a meaningful philosophy, which everyone feels a connection to, can be one of the best culture-building activities you can do with the team this year. We will also look at some examples of philosophies from around Australia, as well as the regulatory requirement regarding philosophies, and their maintenance.
Learning goals:
- knowledge of a clear and definable philosophy check-up process
- develop internal strategies to support the philosophy check-up process
- discuss and clarify the process for their teams.
- build knowledge around strategies for including educators, families, children, and the local community in the philosophy review process.
Completing The Philosophy Check-up may contribute one-hour of PD that aligns with the NESA (NSW) approved criteria and addresses:
